In the early morning hours as people commute to work or otherwise travel from place to place, it is easy for drivers to become complacent. Lost in thought, drivers might fail to fully check for traffic around them as they change lanes or perform other traffic maneuvers, resulting in serious harm. Unfortunately, the victim of a fatal accident in California has recently been identified by authorities.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. on a day in early August. Reports indicate that the 50-year-old victim was riding a motorcycle when the driver of a sedan made a sudden lane change into the path of the motorcyclist. The two collided, and the motorcyclist was thrown onto the shoulder of the road.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol say a witness was performing CPR when they arrived at the scene. Despite the administration of what reports describe as "advanced life-saving techniques," the victim passed away at the scene of the accident. The driver of the sedan, a 20-year-old man, reportedly remained at the scene. Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
Unfortunately, a family in California is facing the news of the unexpected death of their loved one due to the fatal accident. While such a loss is always tragic, the news that a loss occurred as a result of a preventable accident often makes the loss that much more difficult. Many who lose a loved one in such a manner are also unprepared for the financial ramifications of their loss. As a result, many choose to explore their options, including the possibility of filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
