A traffic accident can happen at any moment. Even when a driver in California goes to great lengths to protect his or her safety, it is often difficult to avoid the actions of others. Unfortunately, something as simple as failing to stop in time at a stop sign can lead to a fatal accident, especially if one of the vehicles involved is a motorcycle.
Such appears to be the case following a recent crash. The incident happened one afternoon on a day October. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old driver of a pickup truck headed south failed to stop at a stop sign in time to avoid a collision. His vehicle reportedly struck a westbound motorcycle.
The two people on the motorcycle, ages 43 and 59, were ejected. Both died at the scene. The truck overturned, and the driver suffered minor injuries. While the accident likely remains under investigation, police say that they do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
Unfortunately, the lives of many people will be impacted as a result of the fatal accident. While the young man involved in the crash must cope with his alleged role in the loss of life, the surviving family members must also come to terms with the unexpected death of their loved ones. Often, the financial toll created by such a loss is more than families can manage, often prompting them to file a wrongful death lawsuit in a California civil court. If successfully presented, they could receive an award of damages that will help them cope with funeral costs and other monetary damages associated with the crash.
