When many people in the United States think of transportation, many automatically picture a traditional passenger vehicle. Despite this, there are many ways to legally travel from place to place. Unfortunately, people in California and across the country often face serious personal injury if they are involved in bicycle accidents, due to a relative lack of protection when compared to a traditional motor vehicle.

Unfortunately, a bicyclist was recently injured in what police describe as a hit-and-run accident. According to reports, the victim was riding a dockless bike one evening on a day in September. Police say that the 37-year-old male cyclist was struck by a vehicle. Reportedly, the driver did not remain at the scene.

The cyclist was transported to the hospital. Though his injuries are listed as not life-threatening, he reportedly suffered a broken jaw and a "major" head injury. The road was shut down for several hours while the accident was investigated. A description of a suspect or vehicle was unavailable in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Unfortunately, a head injury can often be unpredictable and cause issues that could impact the rest of a victim's life. Because of the prevalence of surveillance videos and security cameras, there is a potential of identifying a suspect. In the meantime, this victim may face a lengthy recovery. Often victims of bicycle accidents choose to research their legal options following an accident such as this and opt to file a personal injury lawsuit against those deemed responsible. Because most people in California are unfamiliar with this process, many will seek advice from an experience attorney.
